It's 4 000 000 000 GOLD not Gaia Cash. Gold has no real currency value.

It has a value, otherwise we wouldn't pay out gold. Gaia cash give gaia gold a value.
We buy items with gaia cash which sells for a decent amount of gaia gold in the market. So people with a lot of gold will pay about 30,000 gold instead of paying 99 gaia cash for a Luck Key.

You sell cash items for gold, yes, but gold has, and always will as Gaia has stated, no real currency value. Marketplace prices are set by the users. GaiaOnline staff have priced never to tweak the prices of the MP.
Gold has no value in the real world xD. Sorry Cory. Gaia Cash is there for luxury items not to give gold a value in the real world. Hence why Gaia doesn't sell gold and you can have an unlimited amount of it.

Gaia Cash's purpose was not made to give gold value, but thats what it does because gaiacash is the fastest (legit) way to gain gaia gold.
Things like Guild Wars and and Everquest have gold that has no "real world value". However it actually does, because there is a demand for it. People pay real money for it. They also pay real money for gaia gold. Its against the terms of service of the games, but people sell it and people pay for, which give it value.
I can say all day that gold in a game I created has no value. But if people have it and are selling it on a site somewhere or on eBay, then it has value.

It doesn't give it a vaule. You can say "people buy it so it has a value" all day. But it never has and never will. People are setting the prices themselves for the gold and when Gaia finds out they ban the users. Just like Gaia would ban the account that gives out the gold from here if they found out which one it is.
Virtual currency that is not purchased can not have a value. GG is like IMVU Promo Credits, you can't buy it or sell it for real cash (or at least you're not supposed to >.<)

I'm not sure how to explain it any clearer. It does have value. Its like saying digital goods don't have a value.
Meta points have a value in the same way gaia gold has value. Even the US dollar which is based on nothing right now has value. The value of something is determined by supply and demand, not by the idea that you don't want it to be.
Every time we give out gaia gold, we're giving out money out of our pockets. We buy gaia cash. Buy items with Gaia cash. Sell that item for gaia gold. This is a common process and does not result in getting banned.
Now lets say we got gaia gold by playing their mini games and navigating their site. That would take time. So its either spend time or money. just like i say all the time, with metaRL, you can spend your time getting credits rather than money.
When you get something for doing nothing or spending nothing, it has no value. Do you do something for gaia gold? (navigate their site/give them page views) yes. Do you do something for real life money? yes (a job) Do you get mp for doing something? yes (tasks, referring people etc).
Just because you can't buy it does not mean it has no value. For the first year and a half of metaRL you could not purchase metapoints. It all has a value because you have to earn it, theres a demand for it (demand also determines how high or low that value is), you can buy it, it can be sold (whether its a against any rules or not it doesn't magically change the other facts). Its simple economics that you learn in high school.

| My favourite would be the death whisper and the angelic halo considering i had two back in 03 mid 04 aswell i registered when i was 8 teehee, i sold one for 1000g because back then 100g was alot of gold and the angelic halo wasn't rare back then and i also gave the other one away in my guild, My gaia is ninja ryaka No one add me i hate adds. |
